Three Studies in Yellow

Each object, in relation to the other, depicts a narrative of the artist's psychological/neurological processes and conditions through a simplification of color, shape, and tactility. Each object was collected and altered during the artist’s struggles with sensory processing and anxiety that lead to a period of isolation during late 2017 and early 2018. The unconventional, stark yellow color uniformly integrated into the items relates a connectivity of thought and passage of time. Each item; the small quilt, soda bottle, and the stuffed intestines/lasso motif represent American/Texan symbols that directly connect to the artists developmental psyche. ‘Three Studies in Yellow’ describes the artist’s feeling of geographic and psychological displacement from her birthplace yet dissociation from her present location as an American ex-patriate.
